Founded by Michael H. Kraus in 2014, Licensing & IP Solutions Associates, Inc. is a business  strategy and consulting firm that helps companies put into place Intellectual Property Strategy Programs to support and enhance their primary business objectives. LIPSA provides IP strategy services including patent portfolio strategy, patent & technology licensing, IP budgeting, competitive assessment and IP process improvement.

Mike Kraus

Michael H. Kraus is a Certified Licensing Professional with nearly three decades of experience in business development, technology transfer, licensing, IP management and strategy.

Mr. Kraus received his bachelor’s degree from the Royal Military College of Canada in 1980 with honors in Electrical Engineering.  After a tour duty with the Canadian Armed Forces, Mr. Kraus joined Motorola Canada Limited in 1984 as an engineering manager working on various projects related to Land Mobile Radio Communications and Public Safety. In 1992, he transferred to Motorola Inc. in Schaumburg, IL as an international technical advisor working for several Motorola joint ventures in Europe and Asia-Pacific. In 1994, Mr. Kraus took up an expatriate assignment in Germany where he served as Director of Operations for Motorola’s nationwide paging joint venture.  He repatriated to the United States in 1998 and joined Motorola’s Automotive Group working on advanced driver information systems and content delivery.  During his assignment in the Automotive Group, he started working in the area of intellectual property strategy as part of his MBA studies at Northern Illinois University’s College of Business.

Over the next decade, he took on increasing responsibility for Motorola’s patent portfolio strategy and licensing programs including the successful restart of three standards-based programs in the US, Europe and China as well as the portfolio allocation project related to Motorola’s 2011 separation into two publicly traded companies.

Mike holds a Master’s Degree in Business Administration from Northern Illinois University (Member of Beta Gamma Sigma), a Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering from Royal Military College of Canada, is a Certified Licensing Professional and was an Adjunct Professor to Northwestern University’s School of Law teaching IP Strategy & Management in its Master of Science at Law program.
